Brigada Eskwela – Valuing Our School Environment
Children’s rights recognize fundamental guarantees to all human beings and these include the right to proper education: education in an accessible, engaging, safe and sustainable environment. Noble Trends Unbound Inc. and the NTU Foundation has continually taken part in the annual Brigada Eskwela to help safeguard this right.
Every year, the local initiative of this national effort has raked in empathetic participants primarily from NTUi’s corporate social responsibility volunteers. People from NTU Foundation’s partners has flocked the program as well. The volunteers and contributors work with the school personnel and parents to ensure that the school is prepared for upcoming school year.
Dorencio Elementary School, an institution in Baranggay Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet, has been chosen by NTU Foundation as the hub for this bayanihan effort. The choice was made due not only for the area’s dire need of support but also because of the welcoming, cooperative and grateful locals who are willing to work with the volunteers to reach the goals of the program. Volunteer presence might be vital to the program but all of its efforts can only be accomplished with community collaboration.
NTU Foundation believes that working with the community is not a one-time deal and the cooperation needs to be sustainable. The Brigada Eskwela usually focuses on cleaning and repairing the school facilities but further inspection and study of the school’s needs are conducted for future initiatives.
